Looking over Rosedale
As in all of Jim’s landscapes, the light is the key element. In this painting it draws me to three points of interest; firstly to the brightness of the land in the foreground, secondly to the soft light on the hillside at the far end of the valley and finally to the break of light in the sky that creates the physical embodiment of the brooding weather front. .....Sue
